One Word That Can Transform Your Life
The stories we tell ourselves repeatedly, create the reality we live every day.
I want to tell you a story about how I made things happen.
Stories have a profound effect on the realities we live in. Especially, the ones we tell ourselves repeatedly. And some words are so powerful that they can change the course of your destiny.
By August of 2022, I reached a point where I had achieved the seemingly unachievable feat. I had lost more than 20 kilos of body weight. To put things in perspective, I was weighing 91 kilos on January 1, 2022. I was down to 68 kilos by 1 Aug 2022. I thought I had done it all. Well of course not, I needed reasons to keep working out and eat well.
Around that time, I came across Calisthenics. It’s the cool stuff that ripped people did at the outdoor gyms of a park or a beach. I was particularly mesmerised by pull-ups. Loved the definition of muscles on the back.
I saw some people do it effortlessly. They looked so powerful. I wished I could do it too. Well, it looked easy. I told myself, “I can do it too.” Except, I was just left hanging at the bar. Every time, I went to the gym, I would try it multiple times, but to no avail. I failed each time.
This was me in Aug 2022.
Many people would quit here and accept the reality. They would tell themselves - “I can’t do this!”. They repeat this story in their head every day. This belief becomes their reality and they would just move on with life.
I said, “I can’t do this yet”.
One word that can transform your life. That separates winners from losers.
It took me about a year to be able to do a few pull-ups. The desire to do pull-ups made sure that I trained consistently.
Here’s a video of me doing pull-ups now. It looks effortless.
Just like I had once imagined it to be.
People who give up too soon:
Find reasons to blame for their failure.
Don’t envision a world where they could have achieved it.
Believe they lack things and successful people have it.
Hard things take time and one has to persist even in the sign of no success.
It was helpful in the following ways:
A sense of hope. That it will eventually happen.
I viewed it as a game. I had fun with the process.
A strong reason for me to stick to this lifestyle that I painstakingly built.
As a result, I am innately curious about what my potential is and what it takes to reach my potential (the sky is the limit).
Therefore, I urge the readers to do hard things.
Take up the big projects that you have always wanted to do.
It is going to be fun in the long run.
There is a great story yet to be told.
I coach people on fitness and nutrition to live the life of their dreams.
